Modeling Industry and thier Catagories
There are different markets in modeling, and choosing the one that you are best suited to will have a major impact on your success. Some of the most popular Modeling Categories are listed below that might help you to realize where you fit in and start your career in the modeling industry :
1.Runway Fashion Modeling :
Runway/Ramp is a platform where the models pose to display clothing, fashion accessories, footwear by walking along a narrow stage in front of an audience. The fashion industry is very strict about height criteria and has high, and sometimes unreasonable standards. For Male models, it is between 5'11" to 6'" and for Female Models, it ranges between 5'8".These kinds of fashion models are the highest paid and rarest form of modeling.
2. Commercial Modeling :
Commercial models make up the majority of all modeling. It includes many fields of modeling such as catalog, print-work, plus-size, swimsuit, etc. Clients hire models to help in selling their products. They can also work for television, commercials, websites, magazines, newspapers, billboards and any other type of advertisement. It means that you are not currently high fashion material, but still pretty/handsome enough to make it as a model.
3. Fitness Modeling:
A fitness model both male and female should be lean and fit, with firm muscle tone. Magazine advertisements often use these fitness models. There are no height criteria for fitness modeling. They also work as fitness trainers and take part in the fitness-related competition as well.
4.Plus-Size Modeling:
Those individuals whose measurements are larger than editorial fashion models can be categorized into plus-size models. They involve in advertisements of plus size clothing, cosmetics, fashion accessories, etc. Plus-size models are increasingly taking part in fashion editorials and becoming part of the fashion industry. More designers are considering making clothes for the plus-size market.
These are the major types of modeling and also we have another kind of modeling like part models where models having attractive parts such as legs, chest, lips, etc. are hired to showcase their accessories /products. Some agencies solely represent models who are hired for their body parts.
